Calls cost £2.43 per call plus £2.43 per minute plus your phone company’s access charge.
The access charge is set by the company that provides your telephone service. It is separate from our charge of £2.43 per call plus £2.43 per minute. Both appear on the bill for the number used to call us. Those amounts are the full service charge. If we are registered for VAT, VAT is included in them.
Use email for a complaint, a refund request or any other enquiry about a call. Email is free. Do not use the paid number to complain.

What this service is
We provide 118 440, a directory enquiries service for adults in the UK. An adviser finds a local telephone number you ask for, and can try to connect you. You pay £2.43 per call plus £2.43 per minute on the telephone. The price, what is included, and how to complain are set out in our Service terms.
We are not a firm of solicitors, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority or the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We do not give legal, tax, immigration, benefits, financial or medical advice. If a matter needs regulated advice, we will say so and stop.
Complaints, refunds and Ofcom
Email [email protected] with your name, the telephone number you called from, the date and approximate time of the call, and what went wrong. This address is free to use. We acknowledge an email complaint within five working days of receiving it, tell you how it is progressing, and send a written decision without undue delay. The full procedure, including refunds, is in the Service terms.
If you are dissatisfied with how we handle or resolve a complaint about the premium rate service, you can take it to Ofcom:
- Ofcom’s premium rate services complaint page
- 0300 123 3333, or 020 7981 3040
- Welsh language line: 0300 123 2023
Ofcom regulates premium rate services. It does not decide individual refunds. We are not a phone, broadband or pay-TV company, so Communications Ombudsman and CISAS do not deal with complaints about this service. You can also ask Citizens Advice for guidance, complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office about personal data, and go to court. None of these routes removes the others.
